E-UAE ReAction
==============

E-UAE is an emulator of the Commodore Amiga for AmigaOS 4.1 PPC, with a
just-in-time compiler for 68020+ code (PowerPC JIT by Almos Rajnai). This
release adds a native ReAction configuration GUI and many fixes and new
features to the AmigaOS 4 version of E-UAE.

E-UAE 2.0.0 with ReAction GUI 1.0 (internal build v18).

It runs on all AmigaOS 4.1 PPC systems (AmigaOne X5000/X1000/A1222,
Sam440/460, Pegasos II, Classic PPC) and under QEMU.

Highlights
----------

 * ReAction GUI with pages for media, hardware, display, sound, hard
disks, input, shortcuts and configuration; tooltips; English and German
   (locale catalog)
 * PowerPC JIT compiler for 68020 - 68060 code with block chaining and
FPU translation, 68000 - 68060, FPU, AGA, Zorro II/III memory
 * Built-in Picasso96 graphics card (uaegfx.card in the boot ROM, up to
128 MB, hardware mouse pointer, VBLANK interrupt)
 * Hard disks: directories, hardfiles (with RDB), IDE controller of the
   A600/A1200 (Gayle) and A4000
 * CD-ROM drive with ISO and CUE/BIN images (also CD audio), at
uaescsi.device or as ATAPI drive at the IDE controller; bootable as CD0:
   with any Kickstart
 * Amiga CD32: Akiko chip from WinUAE (CD-ROM controller with CD audio,
chunky-to-planar converter, NVRAM for game saves), CD32 pad, CD32
   model preset
 * Disk images also inside ZIP, GZ, LHA and LZX archives
 * Create blank floppy disks and hardfiles from the GUI
 * Configurable hotkeys, savestates, screenshots (PNG),
   bsdsocket.library emulation

Installation
------------

Copy the drawer anywhere and start E-UAE from its icon. Put your Kickstart
ROM images into PROGDIR:Roms/ (or choose another folder in Settings).

Kickstart ROMs are NOT included - they are copyrighted. Use the ROMs from
Amiga Forever or dump them from your own Amiga. The CD32 needs its
Kickstart and extended ROM (two 512 KB files, or one 1 MB CD32 ROM).

For the graphics card the emulated Amiga needs Picasso96 (rtg.library) and
the monitor file DEVS:Monitors/UAEGFX; the uaegfx.card itself is built in.

Usage notes
-----------

 * Right mouse button menu of the GUI window: About, Settings, Quit.
 * Settings: default folders for ROMs, floppies, hardfiles, CD images
   (PROGDIR:Isos/), configurations, savestates and screenshots
(PROGDIR:Screenshots), and the log output (off / window / file
   PROGDIR:E-UAE.log). Saved in PROGDIR:E-UAE.prefs.
 * Screenshot: Ctrl + Alt + P saves the emulated picture (chipset or
graphics card) as PNG, E-UAE_0001.png ... in the screenshot folder.
 * Savestates (Configuration page): "Save savestate..." adds ".uss";
"Load savestate..." also works while the emulation is stopped - it
then starts with the saved state.
 * ARexx port "UAE" (QUIT, RESET, INSERT, EJECT, UAEEXE, QUERY, ...),
e.g. for RunInUAE from the AmigaOS 4.1 CD (set "E-UAE program" in
RunInUAE's settings to the new E-UAE). A configuration or disk image
given on the command line (-f, -0) starts without GUI, unless the
   configuration contains use_gui=.
 * JIT: the switches on the Hardware page (memory access, block chaining,
translation across branches, fixed registers, FPU translation) can be
turned off one by one to find the cause of a problem. "Direct" memory
access is the fastest. The status line shows the share of translated
   code ("JIT 99%").
 * "Save" writes the default configuration, "Save as..." any file
   (".cfg" is added).
 * CD-ROM: Hard disks page -> "Add CD-ROM drive...". To boot from CD tick
"Boot from CD (mount as CD0:)". Without that option the emulated Amiga
   needs a CD file system (CDFileSystem, CacheCDFS, ...) and a mount entry;
   at uaescsi.device: Device = uaescsi.device, Unit = 0, SectorSize = 2048.
The ATAPI drive at IDE needs a scsi.device with ATAPI support
(Kickstart 3.1.4 / 3.2 or a patched driver). A CD drive alone on the
slave position (no master) delays the boot by about 30 seconds, like
   on real hardware.
 * CD32: Hardware page -> model preset "CD32 (AGA, 2 MB, Akiko)". On the
Media page choose the CD32 Kickstart and extended ROM (or the 1 MB
CD32 ROM as Kickstart, extended ROM empty) and the CD image (ISO or
CUE/BIN). Discs can be changed while the CD32 runs. Game saves go to
   PROGDIR:cd32.nvr. The joystick in port 1 is a CD32 pad: buttons 1-7 =
red, blue, yellow, green, forward, reverse, play.
 * Default hotkeys: Ctrl + Alt + Q quit, Ctrl + Alt + S fullscreen,
   Ctrl + Alt + R reset, Ctrl + Alt + F1..F4 insert disk in DF0..DF3 -
all can be changed on the Shortcuts page.

History
-------

v18 (E-UAE 2.0.0, ReAction GUI 1.0)
 Core:
  - PowerPC JIT: crashes and wrong results fixed (checked opcode by
opcode against the interpreter with a new test harness); "Direct"
    memory access usable
  - JIT much faster: translated blocks chained, blocks across branches,
68k registers kept in PowerPC registers, FPU instructions translated
(not on the A1222 - no classic FPU)
  - Interpreter: bit field and PACK/UNPK fixes
  - Autoconfig: empty slots no longer look like boards (Action Replay 3
"configured" empty slots again and again)
 GUI:
  - JIT settings on the Hardware page, JIT share in the status line
  - Screenshots as PNG (Ctrl + Alt + P), folder in Settings
  - Status line (LEDs, FPS) also on graphics card (RTG) screens
  - RTG screens in a window in their own resolution (1:1); aspect ratio
kept when scaled, no more left out lines with "Correct aspect ratio"
  - Default folder PROGDIR:Isos/ for CD images
  - Floppy requester: FDI images (IPF removed until IPF support exists)
  - Savestates: ".uss" added when saving; loading also from the stopped
    state
  - ARexx port "UAE" again (RunInUAE works), command line
    configurations start without GUI
  - Magic Mouse (Input page): in a window with an RTG screen the Amiga
pointer follows the Workbench pointer, no mouse grab
  - New program icon
 Fixes:
  - Picture shifted by one pixel, coloured bar at the bottom of the
    picture
  - Window title said "Display off" over RTG screens
  - JIT: mouse pointer lagging and jumping on the Workbench (blocks over
constant jumps were translated again at every cache flush)
  - Mouse pointer jumping back / lagging (counters as in WinUAE), RTG
pointer redraws only its own area
  - Picture squeezed with double scanlines when a configuration was
started without GUI (picture buffer size)
  - Start from the Workbench icon showed an ASL requester and quit

v17 (E-UAE 2.0.0, ReAction GUI 1.0)
 Core:
  - Amiga CD32: Akiko chip ported from WinUAE - CD-ROM controller (data,
CD audio, sub-channel, disc change), chunky-to-planar converter,
    1 KB NVRAM, CD32 pad
  - CD32 ROMs: Kickstart + extended ROM, also the 1 MB CD32 ROM in one
    file
  - LHA/LZH and LZX archives opened directly (disk images, ROMs)
 GUI:
  - CD32 model preset, "CD32 Akiko chip" switch, CD controller
    "CD32 (Akiko)"
  - Window stays open after Stop; model presets switch the IDE
interface on like real hardware; options without effect on
    AmigaOS 4 removed
  - GUI can be iconified (gadget, optional automatically after Start)
  - Middle mouse button releases the pointer in window mode (option)
  - Cartridge field (Action Replay, HRTMon) on the Media page
 Fixes:
  - "Save" while running saved the running values; backup file only
    made once
  - Kickstart field showed "kick.rom" at the first start
  - uaescsi.device (CD-ROM) was missing after Stop and a new Start
  - Colours yellow after switching to fullscreen and back
  - 48000 Hz sound silently became 22000 Hz
  - bsdsocket.library emulation: crashes (e.g. WHDLoad update check),
emulation froze during network calls, several wrong calls

v16
 Core:
  - Built-in uaegfx.card (no card file needed), hardware mouse pointer,
    VBLANK interrupt, BlitRectTransparent
  - Graphics card memory up to 128 MB (16/32 MB boards were announced as
    8 MB before)
  - Faster RTG output: changed lines copied once per frame, window only
    redrawn when something changed
  - CD-ROM drive with ISO and CUE/BIN images, CD audio, disc change while
running; at uaescsi.device or as ATAPI drive at the IDE controller
  - Booting from CD: built-in ISO 9660 file system, drive mounted as CD0:
  - uaescsi.device fixes (unit thread end, request abort, repeated
installation in the boot ROM area)
 GUI:
  - Real fullscreen switches for Amiga and Picasso96 modes, fullscreen
hotkey toggles window / own screen
  - Graphics card options (hardware pointer, VBLANK)
  - CD-ROM drive on the Hard disks and Media pages
  - Menu (About, Settings, Quit) and Settings window (folders, log output)
 Fixes:
  - Grey screen left after quitting from an own screen
  - Status bar showed "CPU 0%" at full load

v15
 Core:
  - JIT soft cache flush (keeps unchanged translated code)
  - JIT is switched off when cycle-exact is enabled (as in WinUAE)
  - Display was composited twice per frame - up to 8x faster with JIT
    at maximum CPU speed
 GUI:
  - CPU list with 68020/68881 FPU combinations (FPU was silently removed)
  - Create blank floppy disks and hardfiles (OFS/FFS, PFS3, SFS, RDB)
  - Hard disks page redesigned: one drive list, separate windows for
    hardfiles and directories
 Fixes:
  - "Load..." did not load the configuration
  - Model preset recognised after loading
  - Hotkeys checked the wrong keys (Alt vs. Amiga key), modifier order,
    stuck keys
  - "Save as..." adds ".cfg"

v14
  - Hard disks: RDB hardfiles can be added, one list for UAE and IDE drives

v12 - v13
  - IDE controller emulation: A600/A1200 (Gayle) and A4000, master/slave

v11
  - CPU core: exception frames and undefined flags of CHK, CHK2, DIVL,
MULL fixed (checked with the UAE CPU tester)

v10
  - CPU/FPU core fixes (DIVS.W overflow, FPU rounding, FABS, FSCALE, FCMP,
    FGETEXP, FTRAPcc, FMOVECR constants)
  - Shortcuts page: hotkeys can be reassigned
  - LED overlay in 16-bit screen modes

v1 - v9
  - ReAction GUI, tooltips, locale support (English, German)
  - Amiga model presets, JIT cache size choice
  - Fixes: wrong colours, 100% host CPU load while waiting, crash in
path handling, empty window without hardware compositing, 68040/68060
32-bit only, quitting from the start screen
