Short : TellMe script for OS4 and OS3.9
Version : 4.0.2
Date : 20.04.2005
Author : Remolus
UpLoader : Remolus
Type : Utilities/
Status : FreeWare
Requires : AmigaOS4 or AmigaOS3.1 up to 3.9
NOTE
Little Script to provide any proggy (e.g. ToolManager© or from the Shell)
with a File Requester. The script will test if you have really selected a File
(not
only a Drawer) and if it exists. Then it will start the executable.
=====================IMPORTANT!!=========================
TellMe IS the script set up to run c:say. I will "speek" the selected text file.
You can
choose wich accent you will use just by clicking its name on the requester.
=======================================================
REQUIREMENTS for TellMe
- translator.library (I use 43.1)
- narrator.device (37.7)
- TranslatorPrefs (1.0)
- Say (43.0)
- accents drawer with accents in LOCALE:
- NallePuh (only os4pre untill update 2)
INSTALLATION
- put the script somewhere in your path.. I use SYS:Utilities for TellMe
- TellMe is already configured. it assume Say is in C: no further config is
needed. Of course you must have installed the narrator.device with its
components
- You can change the size/position of the output window in the Tooltypes.
- ONLY IF YOU WANT
Modifying the script itself is easy. Take a look at it with NotePad, GoldED
or whatever. If you want to use an other executable instead of Say, Just
go to the EXEC section and find the right place to insert the programm.
now you have a filerequester for your programm.
HOW TO START
- from shell: type the TellMe and the argument (file to load). If no
argument is found or if the file does not exists, it will open a
FileRequester
e.g.
8.WB4.0:>TellMe Ram:TellMe/TellMe.ReadMe <enter> speaks the long test.
8.WB4.0:>TellMe <enter> will open a FileRequester
- from Workbench: double-click the icon
- ToolManager: (is there someone still using it on os4 ;)
just configure the path to this script and maybe, in the string gadget
for "Output File" you can set:
CON:20/80/300/100/name/SIMPLE/WAIT/INACTIVE/NODEPTH/CLOSE to see the
feedback messages
- The Output window closes a few seconds after the text was spoken.
- To Quit just press CTRL-C in the output window or the shell you started from.
(somethimes it takes some seconds)
HISTORY
Version 4.0.2
- I updated the wrong version, (so nothing was working anymore. but nobody tells
me!)
- Checks if Say it's installed and the version too. If prior to V43 it's
possible to continue anyway
but a requester will appear.
Version 4
- Checks for Nalle in C: and if it's running no requester will annoy.
- optimized the variables. Now it's faster.
CHANGES since os3.9 version
- Added the warning requester for NallePUH. I don't know how to check if it's
running so that the booring requester is obsolete
- REQUESTCHOICE and REQUESTFILE have a little different template in OS4.
fixed to work with new versions
- small bug in variable
- all VARs are now deleted from T: when the script quits
