This is a patch which works in conjuction with a web page, to make it possible
to load new URLs without having to quit and reload OWB each time.
The patch changes the default URL loaded by OWB when started from its icon or
without shell argument.
Instead of Google it loads my page by default which is a frameset with a static
URL toolbar on top and bookmarks of a few common websites.
As I couldn't make OWB go to my page directly when launched from its icon, the
easy solution was to alter the binary to replace the Google URL with my own.
The patch makes the same changes I had made here with my Hex editor.
It only alters the default page loaded when no URL was provided on the command
line, so you still can go directly to any page you want.
It's only a temporary solution while we wait for a toolbar in OWB, and as time
permits I'll try to add some useful features to that pseudo-toolbar, such as
user-defined bookmarks, history, or whatever I can cook using JavaScript,
Cookies and Layers, as I can update the top frame at will without requiring
OWB to be patched again.
BTW, if you want to see what that forwarding URL is all about without patching
OWB first, just go to hostwork.com/owb/
Even if you don't patch OWB, feel free to use that page if you find it useful.
