It was perfect from the very beginning and had just gotten better since then. I absolutely love it!
For every image that adripper successfully opens, it attempts to lock other types of the same image.
It's not ADRipper, it's the bitmap.image doing this.

I had a look with Snoopy and, exactly as Xenic said, there were a lot of images missing. Rather than try and work out precisely which of the images were used by ADRipper, I downloaded the latest AISS (4.22) and copied over the whole tbimages dir. In my old tbimages dir were aprox 5000 images, in the new dir, aprox 9000 images!

ADRipper is starting correctly again now - thanks for the advice.

Mason sure has put in some incredible work on AISS. I'm not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand it keeps the tool-bar images for various apps of a uniform style, but on the other hand, there's probably only aprox 2% of those 9000 images that are actually going to be used on my system. It takes an age to backup the OS4.1 partition because of the tbimages dir. I keep saying to myself that it would be possible to delete all the unused images but it would be such a faff.

Anyway, thanks Daniel :-)

The problem I reported isn't as bad as I first thought. The adripper freeze only occurs if there is no FORCEDEVICE tooltype set. I just D/L adripper, installed it and tested without setting any tooltypes. If I set the FORCEDEVICE tooltype before starting adripper, it seems to start normally.
There are CD device issues with the X5000. The X5000 CD system is a bit of a mess. There is no CD0: on the X5000. The CD system starts with CD1: and every time you switch to a different CD the device is incremented. In other words the first CD you insert is CD0:, the next CD you insert is CD1: and so on. It acts like a USB device (USB0,USB1,etc.) instead of a normal CDROM with CD0: all the time.

The only way to rip CD's on my X5000 is to quit adripper after each rip, change the FORCEDEVICE tooltype and restart adripper for the next CD. I don't know if the X5000 CD system will be changed in an update but for now it would be handy to have a way to change the CD number in the adripper GUI, instead of quitting and restarting every time you change CDs.

Here on my X5000 OS4.1FEu1 system, adripper doesn't work after opening it's GUI. None of the buttons do anything and I can't quit the program. The adripper menus don't work and the menus for other programs on my Workbench stop working. My only option is a warm reboot.

As far as having Lemon run Snoopy check which image is failing, I tried running Snoopy and it would be next to impossible to tell which image is causing the problem. There are hundreds of image failures. For every image that adripper successfully opens, it attempts to lock other types of the same image. Here is an example:

01473 : ADRipper : o.k. = FOpen("TBImages:db",OLD,0) [0x1A0FC744] [34uS]
01474 : ADRipper : UnLock("TBImages:db") [2uS]

01476 : ADRipper : o.k. = [exec] OpenLibrary("datatypes.library",0) [5uS]
01477 : ADRipper : FAIL = Lock("TBImages:db.mask",SHARED) [34uS]

ADRipper only uses one image that is not part of AISS, and it's the "adripper_about.png" image distributed in the Images/ drawer. All other images are taken from AISS. Could you please use Snoopy to find out which image is missing?
Comment by: Lemen ( 22 Mar 2018, 12:09File version: 1.13
Thanks for the update of ADRipper.

The previous version (1.12) started and functioned well.
This version (1.13) gives an error upon starting:
ADRipper error
Unable to find or create image!
Comment by: Trixie ( 13 Nov 2017, 20:51File version: 1.12
@Raziel, gerograph

No need. The bogus error message when AISS is missing has already been fixed for the upcoming version.
Comment by: Raziel ( 09 Nov 2017, 07:59File version: 1.12

Still, that shouldn't be. At least the error about a missing AISS install should be more obvious.
Why not report it to @trixie?

No problem here but I tested it on beta OS. Try with Snoopy to see what it tries to load and fails.
Comment by: gerograph ( 07 Nov 2017, 20:50File version: 1.12
hm...I am getting a:

ADRipper Error
Out of memory!

This is on fresh installed OS4.1 Final Edition + Enhancer 1.3. Plus (X1000). Any Idea?
Comment by: trixie ( 27 May 2017, 22:20File version: 1.12

a) .m3u generation support has been available for ages. You just need to select "Generate playlist" in the Prefs.
b) Datatypes are too slow to use for sound data conversion, compared to ADRipper's dedicated encoders. There's no way a FLAC datatype could match the FLAC encoder plugin currently available.
c) What do you actually mean by "future OGG support"? The Ogg Vorbis encoder plugin uses the latest OGG libraries available
d) Too much work and too few users to justify the implementation.
Comment by: vox ( 19 May 2017, 11:27File version: 1.12
If I am not too demanding for a freeware,
could we have (priority):
a) option to generate m3u list
b) alternative option to convert files using sound datatypes (FLAC, AMR)
c) future OGG support (there are Amiga libs)
d) Use of some database based on user input not only automatic CDDB recognition

Hope a) can be introduced fast, as it is a must :-)
Comment by: Trixie ( 10 May 2015, 15:35File version: 1.12

"Eject when done" is already implemented for the upcoming version (1.13), I'll see about adding "Auto rip" for the same version as well.
Comment by: dan.hutch ( 10 May 2015, 12:39File version: 1.12
Thanks for the new ADRipper, good to see it being updated!

Is it possible to add an 'auto rip' feature? ADRipper would automatically recognise an audio CD is in the drive and start ripping to a preset location and then 'eject when done'.

Very cool.

Can You add a Cover search and integration in Flac & MP3 files ?
Comment by: HKvalhe ( 07 Jul 2013, 13:40File version: 1.10
The program is really great to use and with the encoders for it, ripping the songs in glorious FLAC quality is wonderful! I truly recommend this program.
Comment by: Thematic ( 23 Nov 2011, 05:28File version: 1.8
I haven't used this version for actual work yet, but I did notice that you edit the encoder profiles by clicking on the text, instead of the edit dialogue. I mean it's not documented. :)

Great to see an update, use ADRipper pretty regularly here. Love it!

Those AISS icons which are coming with os4.1.1 that only "main" ones. So, you need download the whole archive from the Mason site, and install it manually (the same you need and for others tools also, like for example AmiSoundEd, etc).
Comment by: Rudee ( 23 Jan 2010, 14:58File version: 1.6
Hmm.. Complains there is no AISS installed on OS4.1 U1
Comment by: CentaurZ ( 19 Feb 2009, 23:10File version: 1.6
Deleting the corresponding icon in Images/ should do the trick.
Comment by: djbase ( 18 Feb 2009, 00:52File version: 1.6
works nice but is there a wqy to disable this docky icon?

This (longstanding) bug has been fixed in the last update (1.6).

Comment by: poolboy ( 23 Dec 2008, 01:41File version: 1.5b
Hmm it will not work
When i click on a button my os will be frezz :(

Fantastic, works great. Here I am ripping and encoding, browsing and listening.

Thanks for this little gem.

Comment by: Severin ( 29 Oct 2007, 16:14File version: 1.0b
opps, forgot to add...

"Rip and encode to disk selected tracks" doesn't sound right, can that

be changed to "Rip and encode selected tracks to disk" ?
Comment by: Severin ( 29 Oct 2007, 16:10File version: 1.0b
Excellent program, although I have found a little bug...

If you start ADRipper without a disc in the drive it pops up the annoying
requester telling you that, but if you then click the eject button to open the
cd tray to put a disc in, it just tells you there's no disc again and doesn't
open the tray.
Comment by: hotrod ( 19 Oct 2007, 17:47File version: 1.0b
This update is really great! You've added what people was asking for and more.
It got everything that I want now except for those things listed for the future
versions offcourse :-) . Thank you so much! Typing this while encoding in MP3
Comment by: jahc ( 19 Oct 2007, 07:42File version: 1.0b
Great update! No offence to the TheMpegEncGUI, but that was so confusing to
figure out how to use CDDB with it. ADRipper is a piece of cake! I love the new
"Time remaining" information in the GUI. I'm using this for my MP3
encoding now!
Comment by: anonymous ( 09 Jul 2007, 21:34File version: 0.13b
Yes it works great now! Tried to find some docs for what to use but I
"tried %# from a linux program" wich didn't work, but it's logical to
use n for numbers so now it works great and I'm very happy :-) . Thanks a lot!
Comment by: CentaurZ ( 09 Jul 2007, 11:22File version: 0.13b
Sorry, there is still no bubble help, but %n stands for track number.
Did you try "%n - %t" in track name and "%a/%d" in drawer
name (note the slash) ?
Comment by: anonymous ( 09 Jul 2007, 10:39File version: 0.13b
Good work, thank you for this great programme.
Comment by: anonymous ( 07 Jul 2007, 14:46File version: 0.11b
One more suggestion. I'd like to have another format for how the filenames are
saved. I usually have nr - songname (01 - Enter Sandman). That file would be in
the directory Metallica wich would be in the directory Metallica
(artist/album/songs). So pretty much how it's now but with other filenames.
Maybe configurable?
Comment by: anonymous ( 04 Jul 2007, 07:59File version: 0.11b
A couple of suggestions for the future version. Scrollwheel support and tooltips

for the icons. Except for support of MP3 I can't think of anything else right
now..... if support for Lame is added the option --noreplay-gain must be added
(and some other common options) but that would make the program even better :-)
Comment by: anonymous ( 02 Jul 2007, 19:08File version: 0.11b
Wow what a nice program! I'm in love :-) . If it only had support for MP3 as
well :-) ...
Comment by: amipal ( 02 Jul 2007, 18:33File version: 0.11b
Looking good CentaurZ! Fantastic GUI. I'd like to reiterate calls for MP3
support, as like Rob, my car stereo will only support MP3.
Comment by: CentaurZ ( 02 Jul 2007, 09:58File version: 0.11b
Thanks a lot!
For the plugins, I was thinking about FLAC, Lame-based mp3 support may also be
added. Anyway, the plugin API should become public when it is mature enough, so
it's up to you ;-).
Comment by: jahc ( 02 Jul 2007, 07:09File version: 0.11b
Wow, what a nice app! Great GUI man! .. to the users requesting MP3 support, I
think thats catered for already with LAME and TheMPegEncGUI. I think I may be
ripping my cds in .ogg format from now on. :)
Comment by: Rob ( 02 Jul 2007, 02:07File version: 0.11b
I'd too like to see mp3 as that is what my car stereo plays.
Comment by: Nubechecorre ( 01 Jul 2007, 23:16File version: 0.11b
WOW !!! Great work ! i really appreciate this program !!! i hope you' ll add
others format such as mp3 :-)

I have just ripped my cd of Avril Lavigne using the db of freedb via internet
:-) COOL !!!

which format would you like to add ? FLAC ?
