Andrea II) Author: ka0mvk()arrl.net (Daniel J. Andrea II) Type: disk/misc Distribution: NoCD This is an OS Format replacement, offering some features that were missing from the original Format command. This program will work only on OS4 and higher. Big changes for this version! Now is a PowerPC OS4 program. Also added large disk support so it is possible to format partitions that cross the old 4GB device driver limitations. Partitions can exist anywhere on the drive, entirely below, crossing over, or above the 4GB boundary, as well as be as large as 64-bit integers will allow (which is a LOT). It should be possible to format 200+ GB disks, though I don't have anything larger than a 30 GB disk to test it with currently. Also added support for the new OS4 FFS options for Long File Names. Note: I have gotten tired of seeing those 'offers' for a free Aminet CD, that actually is going to cost me almost as much as just buying it from here within the USA. As a result, I have decided to change the distribution of all my software. I will no longer allow it to be distributed on Aminet CDs until the 'free' CD for Aminet contributors truly becomes free again. This policy is subject to change, depending on what happens with Aminet policy. I've also removed the "Replaces" line from this readme so that the older 1.28 version doesn't get removed from Aminet, just in case anyone still needs it for OS 3.9 and older. Requires Kickstart v50+. |
