Please read the list of known issues before playing.

Introduction
============

Open Syobon Action is an open-source clone of the Japanese game Syobon Action,
also known as "Cat Mario".

It is a parody of Super Mario Bros.

Each level is ridiculously hard, for the sole purpose of frustrating the person
playing the game.

Elements of the game that appear to be glitches, are actually coded that way
on purpose. Fear not, the game is working properly.

Known issues
============

The game takes between 20 and 30 seconds to load. In that time, the window
will be black. Please be patient.

Running the game from RAM: will load it very slowly. It can take between five
and ten minutes to load, being stuck on a black screen during that time.

When encountering a "message bubble" for the first time, the game will
momentarily freeze while the fonts are loaded and rendered.

Installation
============

Extract the archive to an HDD partition of your choice, preferably one
formatted in SFS.

Do NOT run the game from the RAM drive.

Double-click the icon on the Workbench screen, and wait patiently.

Tips
====

You can skip to the level of your choice by pressing any number key at the
title screen, and then pressing enter.

You can exit the current level and go back to the main title screen by
pressing F1.

To exit the game, press ESC.
