[Show comments] [Show snapshots] [Show videos] [Show content] [Show crashlogs] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT IS THIS? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is DGen v1.24, the Sega Genesis MegaDrive emulator running on AmigaOS 4. The Amiga version was done by Ventzislav Tzvetkov http://hirudov.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HOW DO I INSTALL IT? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Extract the lha archive to the drawer of your preference. DGen have its own drawer. DGen supports compressed ROMs through gzip. To be able to use archived ROMs, the gzip binary must be present either in C: or in the DGen drawer. Currently supported are .z, .gz, .f, .z, .lzh and .zip archive formats. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HOW TO USE IT? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Emulator can be launched from Workbench or from cli. To launch it from Workbench simply double-click on its icon then select the ROM image from the ASL requester. Supported are .bin and .smd ROM image formats. Compressed images are loaded only if the gzip binary is present. If started from cli without any arguments ASL requester opens for selecting the ROM image. The CLI gives the possibility to load ROM images directly and other options: Usage: dgen [options] romname Where options are: -v Print version number and exit. -r RCFILE Read in the file RCFILE after parsing dgenrc. -p CODE,CODE... Takes a comma-delimited list of Game Genie (ABCD-EFGH) or Hex (123456:ABCD) codes to patch the ROM with. -P Use PAL mode (50Hz) instead of normal NTSC (60Hz). -d DEMONAME Record a demo of the game you are playing. -D DEMONAME Play back a previously recorded demo. -s SLOT Load the saved state from the given slot at startup. -f Attempt to run fullscreen. -X scale Scale the screen in the X direction. -Y scale Scale the screen in the Y direction. -S scale Scale the screen by the same amount in both directions. If the ROM is loaded correctly the emulation will start. Joystick is recognized automatically via AmigaInput and can be used for playing. The keys used are as follow: pad1: cursor up - Pad up cursor down - Pad down cursor left - Pad left cursor right - Pad right a - Pad button A s - Pad button B d - Pad button C q - Pad button X w - Pad button Y e - Pad button Z Backspace - Pad button Mode Enter - Pad button Start Pad2: Numeric 8 - Pad up Numeric 2 - Pad down Numeric 4 - Pad left Numeric 6 - Pad right Delete - Pad button A End - Pad button B Page Down - Pad button C Insert - Pad button X Home - Pad button Y Page Up - Pad button Z Numeric + - Pad button Mode Numeric Enter - Pad button Start F1 - Fix checksum Escape - Quit emulator Tab - Reset gamesystem z - Pause Alt+Enter - Toggle fullscreen F12 - Save screenshot F2 - Save snapshot F3 - Load snapshot 0-9 - Select save slot -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HINTS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If a game says it is not for this system, start the emulator from cli with the -P option. (PAL Mode). Sometimes loading a saved snapshot doesn't result in playable game. Save the snapshots on different slots. Play in fullscreen mode (ALT+Enter or -f option) for full Sega MegaDrive/Genesis experience. Use joystick. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BUGS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Of course the chances of finding a bug are unlikely, but if you do, tell me about it. Enjoy DGen! drHirudo
